IMPORTANT:
Wildfire Mitigation Tree Work Notice for Heber Light & Power Wildland-Urban Interface
Following what has been one of the warmest and driest winters on record, 100% of Utah is now experiencing drought conditions. Heber Light & Power has contracted with Peterson Tree Care to perform critical vegetation management in our Wildland Urban Interface areas. 90% of wildfires impacting residential areas are ignited by flying embers rather than direct flame contact. Managing dense vegetation near electrical corridors is our primary line of defense and will begin immediately.
LINE CLEARANCE SCOPE OF WORK:
- 15-Foot Clearance: All trees and high risk shrubbery will be removed directly from under Primary Power Lines.
- Proactive Encroachment Management: Trees growing into the 15-foot clearance zone will be professionally trimmed or entirely removed based on structural risk.
- Professional Standards: All operations strictly follow ANSI A300 professional tree care standards to maintain plant health and structural integrity where preservation is possible.
Education is essential for long-term fire mitigation. With the new Utah House Bill 48 having just gone into effect, the legislation establishes a proactive mitigation strategy for wildland-urban interface (WUI) safety. Property owners can take immediate personal responsibility by creating defensible space and using ignition-resistant building materials as much as possible.
